The Saint Mary Mokena Knights of Columbus will sponsor a community blood drive at the parish on the morning of Sunday, June 24th to benefit hospitals in the Chicago-land area. All are welcome and encouraged to donate their blood from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm.
Heartland Blood Centers, which serve Silver Cross hospital in New Lenox, Palos Community hospital in Palos Heights and 70 other hospitals in the area, will conduct the blood drive.
“This Knights of Columbus-sponsored blood drive will give each of us who has received, or had a friend or loved one receive, the precious gift of blood a chance to give back,” says Cliff Peloquin, pro-life director for the St. Mary Mokena Knights of Columbus.
Peloquin explains this will be a much larger drive than the one last year, which took place in a mobile van. “This year we will have beds set up in the church hall with multiple technicians available for our donors. Please join us on June 24th and give the gift of life.”
A photo ID is required to donate blood, and donors will receive a free Chicago Bears t-shirt. To set up an appointment to donate, call (815) 464-7242 or sign up online at http://www.heartlandbc.org.
