World-Renowned Catholic Speaker to Present at St. Mary Mokena

“Theology of the Body” expert Christopher West and musician Mike Mangione will present “Made for More: Visions of the Promised Land” at Mokena church

Christopher WestInternationally renowned Catholic author and speaker, Christopher West, will present at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mokena on Wednesday, May 22nd at 7 pm.

The event is called, “Made for More: Visions of the Promised Land,” and will use music, images, video, and speech to dive into life’s greatest mysteries and uncover how to lead fulfilling lives.

Together with internationally touring folk/Americana musician Mike Mangione, West will explore St. John Paul II’s “Theology of the Body” philosophy, which explains God’s intended purpose for the human body and how men and women can use their bodies to glorify God.

West is known for his lectures, best-selling books, and multiple audio and video programs about “Theology of the Body.” He is Founder and President of The Cor Project, which is an international outreach devoted to spreading his message and empowering others.

“The goal of this event is really to help turn the lights on for people, so they can see the mystery of God revealed through all of creation, and especially through our own humanity, our own bodies as male and female,” explains West. “Through that ‘coming to see,’ our eyes are opened in stunning new ways to God’s plan for creation and for our own lives.”

The event is being co-hosted by St. Mary Mokena, St. Anthony Parish in Frankfort and St. Liborius Parish in Steger. St. Mary Mokena will hold the event and is currently selling tickets for $20 per person.

“Our parish is honored to be hosting this world-class speaker at our parish,” says Danielle Kuboushek, Faith Formation Coordinator at St. Mary Mokena. “We hope to pack the pews with people who are interested in deepening their faith and in understanding how Theology of the Body can bring them into closer alignment with God’s plan for us.”

Tickets will be on sale after all Masses at St. Mary Church during the weekends of April 13-14 and April 27-28. They may also be purchased online or by contacting Donna Hungerford at Secretary@stmarymokena.org or 708-326-9305.
