Catholics need to go to a priest for confession because, at that moment, the priest acts in the person of Christ. He is a “servant of God’s forgiveness” and a conduit for the grace of forgiveness between God and man (Catechism of the Catholic Church CCC: 1466). In that sense, Catholics do still confess their sins directly to God.
Last month, Father Dindo Billote, pastor of Saint Mary Mokena and Father Mario Quejadas, pastor of Saint Walter Church in Roselle led a Catholic pilgrimage to Southeastern France and Northwestern Italy.
Families are invited to Saint Mary Mokena’s first annual Trunk or Treat Halloween event on Tuesday, October 30 from 5 pm to 7 pm. Candy and other treats, including allergy-free options, will be handed out to children from decorated car trunks in the parking lot.
